With a 14-7 lead and facing third and goal from the two, Notre Dame looked likely to enter halftime beating Virginia Tech by at least ten points. The Irish kept it conservative, too, with a run up the middle, intent on preserving at least a field goal opportunity.

Except that’s not what happened! Instead, the Hokies’ Divine Deablo (what a perfect name!) scooped up a fumble and took it 98 yards to the house.
