A huge Top 10 matchup happened in college softball on Friday night and it had fans and others buzzing.

8th-ranked Washington pulled off a massive victory over 3rd-ranked UCLA in Los Angeles. The Huskies didn’t care that they weren’t in their usual home dwelling of Seattle. They went down to LA and took down the mighty Bruins, 4-3.

The Huskies stung the Bruins with a big blow late in the game. Star infielder Baylee Klingler belted a solo home run in the top of the 6th inning. The homer swelled the lead up to 4-1, which proved pivotal as UCLA got two of those runs back but not all three.

Rachel Cid was responsible for one of those two runs. She drilled a pitch to the left side to bring a run in to make it 4-3 in the bottom stanza. But the UCLA rally was ultimately cut short.

The college softball world buzzed about this epic clash after the final results were posted.

Washington Baseball gave their pals some encouragement on Twitter.

Josh Kirshenbaum sounded delighted that softball season was around at UW now.

One fan was super hyped about Baylee Klingler’s homer.

Another fan was thrilled to see how things went down.

This college softball series will continue this weekend and should bring plenty more excitement to the table.
