The Michigan State Spartans may not have been dancing as long as they hoped in the recent NCAA men’s basketball tournament, but head coach Tom Izzo and star guard Denzel Valentine got a chance to keep their dancing shoes on anyway. The two stopped by rehearsals for Dancing With the Stars on Thursday. South Carolina women’s basketball palyer A’ja Wilson joined them.
The three filmed a segment with the DWTS crew for a segment that will air during Friday’s College Basketball Awards show on ESPN2. (Valentine and Wilson are both finalists for the men’s and women’s Wooden Award, respectively.) Take a look.

Izzo couldn’t have gone wrong with any partner he danced with, but trying a few moves with Edyta Sliwinska (who has a bit of free time, as she and partner Geraldo Rivera were the first pair eliminated from season 22 of the show) was a particularly good bit of fortune for the coach. You have to love Valentine commenting on his coach getting some dance instruction. Maybe a bit of envy there?
Izzo won’t have to worry about being invited to DWTS in the near-future, as both seasons of the show each year tape during college basketball season. But if the moves he showed (and to be fair, maybe he was just dazzled by Sliwinska) are any indication, it might not be a good idea to invite him to the competition anyway.
