The San Francisco 49ers were hamstrung by injuries to their star players from the beginning to the end of last season. San Francisco is optimistic that 2025 will bring a cleaner slate of health for the Niners, but they’ll still have to recover from some of the injuries suffered last year.
One player who still isn’t fully recovered is star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, for whom the Niners provided an update on Tuesday.
“GM Lynch on Brandon Aiyuk’s progress from knee injury: ‘We’re not anywhere close to having a concrete timeline [for return],'” reported Underdog NFL on Twitter.
Fans reacted to the news that Aiyuk’s future and return were murky on social media.
“He’s just 9 months out from tearing his ACL + MCL. Multi-ligament knee injuries typically need 11-12 months of recovery to be stable enough to play football at a high level. Very likely Aiyuk starts on the PUP & doesn’t do much until Week 8,” one doctor wrote on Twitter.
“Thank god the steelers didnt make a trade happen,” one Pittsburgh Steelers fan added.
“Gotta take it slow with knee stuff. Hope he heals right!” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Aiyuk is the same player when he returns from injury.
