The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with some absolutely brutal injury luck to key players in yet another season. Remarkably, San Francisco, led by backup quarterback Mac Jones for the majority of the season, remains neck and neck with the Los Angeles Rams for the NFC West title.
However, things are going to be even harder for the Niners, for at least another week or two, as they’ve confirmed another injury to a key contributor on the defensive side of the ball.
“49ers have lost another defensive end to injury: Bryce Huff injured his hamstring near the end of Sunday night’s win over Atlanta and HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters, ‘Hopefully it won’t be longer than two weeks.’ 49ers already were without DEs Nick Bosa and Tarron Jackson,” reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Shanahan call your buddy McDaniel because the Dolphins have Phillips and Chubb available. We’ll take a 2nd round pick for Phillips and a 3rd round pick for Chubb,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Losing Bryce Huff, especially with Nick Bosa and Tarron Jackson already sidelined, leaves the 49ers dangerously thin at edge rusher. Huff’s been one of their more explosive pass-rushers this year,” another fan added.
“He’s getting too close to upgrading the pick they owe the Eagles. 4 more sacks and the pick goes from a 5th rounder to 4th. lol,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Niners can overcome the latest injury.
