The San Francisco 49ers were really down on their luck on Sunday. Things unraveled for them quickly against the Philadelphia Eagles, who soundly defeated them in the NFC Championship Game. Philadelphia earned a berth in the Super Bowl while the 49ers head home, just as they did a season ago. One 49er reportedly made a shocking accusation after the game, however, about the officiating during the game.

The San Francisco Chronicle published a story on Monday written by longtime Bay Area-based reporter Michael Silver. Silver wrote about the game and the drive where they were hit with three backbreaking penalties. The Niners were ripped because of their lack of discipline, but t seemed the team wasn’t moving at the same beat.

One San Francisco player made a shocking accusation to Silver. Silver wrote in the article, “‘It felt like once Purdy got hurt, someone at the league called down and said, ‘Make sure the Eagles get to the Super Bowl, and not them,’ one Niners player told me. I’m withholding his name because he would prefer to keep his money, rather than paying a fine to the NFL,” he wrote.

Silver later added, “That may be a bit over the top, but let’s just say he wasn’t the only frustrated person in that locker room.” Quite the accusation, and quite the opposite feeling from how fans and others were during the game.
