The San Francisco 49ers have looked like a juggernaut this season. And the team’s 42-10 drubbing of the Dallas Cowboys only furthered that point. Brock Purdy played an excellent game, but so did the defense, which picked off Dak Prescott three times and held Dallas to just 10 points. Among the team’s best players has been Fred Warner. The NFL honored Warner for his efforts in Week 5 by announcing that he was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week.

“Give it up for your NFC Defensive Player of the Week,” his 49ers boasted on X, formerly known as Twitter. The post featured a release on Warner’s performance this past week.

The former BYU star had an excellent game for the 49ers. The tw0-time All-Pro recorded eight total tackles, which led the team, in addition to a forced fumble, interception and a sack. According to the 49ers, he is the first player to register one or more sacks, one or more forced fumbles and one or more interceptions in a single game since star linebacker NaVorro Bowman did in 2013.

We’ll see Warner and the 49ers this Sunday when they head to Cleveland to take on the 2-2 Browns.

The NFL world had plenty to say about the Fred Warner announcement.
