At first glance, it looks like the San Francisco 49ers have a near-perfect team, with a dynamic offense and an elite defense to match that has helped them start their season 5-1. However, one problem has emerged of late, as rookie kicker Jake Moody has struggled heavily in recent games. Those struggles continued early on in the MNF matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Moody played a big role in the 49ers Week 6 game last week for all the wrong reasons. He missed two field goals, including a kick that would have won them the game against the Cleveland Browns.

Things didn’t get much better in the first half against the Vikings on Monday. He missed his first field goal attempt, a 40-yard kick to start the second quarter, just pushing it out to the right.

Of his last four field goal attempts, Moody has made just one of them. This is clearly starting to hurt the 49ers, and fans are rightfully upset with his play.

What makes these struggles even more noticeable from Moody is that he came into the NFL with a ton of high expectations from 49ers fans.

Moody was one of the most productive college kickers in recent memory last year, which led to the 49ers selecting him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

It’s obviously unclear whether the 49ers make a move at the kicker position in the near future if these struggles continue, or let the young player work through the struggles. But it is certainly very clear that 49ers fans are not too happy with him…
