The San Francisco 49ers had their entire season derailed by injuries last year, resulting in the Niners missing out on the playoffs. San Francisco is hoping that things don’t go quite so poorly in the health department for the 2025 campaign.

Unfortunately, as training camp gets underway, the Niners already have to stomach an injury to a key offensive piece, per head coach Kyle Shanahan.

If this was probably a few years ago, we would have practiced him today. … We wanted to make sure his conditioning was right. So we’re just doing that for three days. And if he can continue to hit all that [GPS tracking metrics] and his conditioning is good, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t out there Sunday,” Shanahan said of young wide receiver Ricky Pearsall.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Encouraging update here for the young SF WR Sounds like he’s close to returning & he’s being held out as more of a precaution Hamstring injuries have HIGH reinjury rates & can linger, use the extra rehab time while you have it,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“This guy stays hurt,” someone else said of the young receiver.

“There’s been a few statements made this off-season that seem to indicate the 49ers revamped their rehab/training & RTP process. Also adds to them potentially being more cautious than in years past instead of rushing players back. Will have to keep tracking this,” another person wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Niners manage to stay healthier this season.
