It once looked like former first-round pick Robert Nkemdiche was primed for a long and successful NFL career, but that has not been the case to this point.

After being taken by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2016 NFL Draft, Nkemdiche has largely flamed out in the league, spending time with the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks while making little to no impact during his time.

It is six years since he was drafted and given his limited production in the NFL, many would expect that he may be on his way out of the NFL for good, but one team has decided to take one more chance on the former top recruit in the 2013 high school recruiting class.

Reports have emerged that the San Francisco 49ers are signing Nkemdiche after a workout with the team on Monday that seemingly went extremely well.

49ers general manager John Lynch discussed the workout, saying that Nkemdiche “shined” during his workout.

This will now be the third NFC West team that Nkemdiche has been on, and he will look to produce more on the field than in the prior stops in the division.

Nkemdiche is still only 27 years of age, so there is certainly hope that he can realize the vast potential that he had at one point.

It remains to be seen whether he will be used in San Francisco, or even make the 53 man roster when it comes down to it, but this does mean that the formerly hyped prospect has at least one more chance in the NFL.
