San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance has had a rough year. Lance suffered an injury early in the 2022 season that kept him out for the entire year. The 49ers went on to make the NFC Championship without Lance, and while Brock Purdy flourished, the former Top 5 pick’s future seemed in doubt.

This week, Lance revealed when he finally started to feel healthy.

“Probably towards the end of March, I would say is when I was 100 percent,” Lance said via 49ers.com. “The finger was probably a past thing throughout this whole rehab process,” he continued. “I felt like it got to that point, pretty close to that point, after my rookie year, after that offseason.”

Lance added that it’s been an “awesome” offseason for him. He noted that he worked out with two-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, and the duo also worked out with UCLA commit Dante Moore.

WIth Purdy still in the fold, we’ll see how it goes for Lance in 2023. Jimmy Garoppolo is in Las Vegas (although, he’s run into some issues there after a reported failed physical) so only Sam Darnold stands in the way of Lance challenging Brock Purdy.

Given that Trey Lance has revealed he’s felt ‘100 percent’ for two months now, it adds another fascinating element to the quarterback battle in the Bay Area. The 49ers have a decent problem to have, but it’s one that they’ll have to have sorted out.
