Aaron Rodgers golfing

There’s a lot of drama swirling around Aaron Rodgers right now and whether or not he will be traded away from the Green Bay Packers. While the New York Jets sound like the most likely option if it does indeed happen, there’s been a lot of speculation that Rodgers might want to return to Northern California where he grew up, and play for the San Francisco 49ers. On Thursday, however, Rodgers seemed to make it clear that his future does not lie in the Bay Area.

While getting ready to hit a shot during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Rodgers was asked by an announcer if there was any news he wanted to share with the crowd. And then he did.

“I’m not going to San Fran,” said Rodgers, with a smile.

“You’d look great with a Cowboys star on your helmet,” responded the announcer, which elicited some oohs from the crowd.

Of course, there’s only so much we should read into an off-the-cuff moment during a golf tournament, but Rodgers is usually pretty coy about his plans so we’ll just have to take him as his word for now.

“It sounds like there’s already conversations going on that aren’t involving me, which are interesting,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee earlier in the week. “I’m not a part of those conversations right now. When I make up my mind one way or another, then…everybody else will know at some point.”
