New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has played with many talented pass catchers over his 18-year NFL career. He now has another one in second-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who he boldly compared to another great teammate he once had.

Wilson made his impact known in his rookie season last year, winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season.

Rodgers revealed on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday that he is already impressed with Wilson in workouts they have had together, even comparing him to former teammate Davante Adams.

“It’s fun to be here and be a part of it,” Rodgers said in a video shared by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on Twitter. “Obviously Garrett (Wilson), he’s a talented guy. I threw him a pass today and he just kind of turned. I was like wow with his ability to get in and out of his breaks. There is another number 17 I played with for a long time who does it better than anybody. But the explosiveness in and out of breaks from the 17 here is pretty similar.”

This is certainly a bold comparison and many around the NFL world had plenty to say about it.

Wilson certainly appears to be a special talent if his first season is any indication, so this isn’t a wild comparison for Rodgers to make. However, Adams is clearly the far more seasoned and accomplished player at this point.

Regardless, expectations are clearly high from Aaron Rodgers towards his new No. 1 wide receiver in New York.
