This week, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will enter a four-day darkness retreat that’s supposed to help him decide what to do for next season.

Whether that means staying with the Packers, seeking a trade, or retirement, the hope is that a decision will be made soon after this retreat. Apparently, Rodgers’ relationship is so good with the Packers that whatever he decides, the team will make it work.

According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, “sources emphasized the relationship between the Packers and Rodgers remains positive 11 months after the club signed him to a massive contract extension that seemed to all but secure his stated goal of playing his entire career with one team.”

In addition, it’s reported that the two sides will work together on facilitating Rodgers, but he would obviously need to come to a decision first.

If Rodgers stays with the Packers, then the team doesn’t really need to do much. If he seeks a trade to another team, it’s reported that other teams have inquired about a trade but it’s too early for any negotiations. No teams were named by Rapoport and Pelissero, but the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets seem to be the favorites.

If a trade were to take place, Rodgers and the Packers would need to rework his current contract to make it more cap-friendly for another team. That shouldn’t be much of an issue if everyone is on the same page.
