If the New York Jets weren’t already “all in” on their pursuit of Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, it would appear that they certainly are now as the team is reportedly targeting several of Rodgers’ favorite wide receivers in an apparent effort to convince him to agree to be traded to the team.

As league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports, the Jets are currently the only team pursuing former Packers receiver Allen Lazard – who has played his entire career with Aaron Rodgers up to this point – as well as longtime Packers receiver Randall Cobb.

“Allen Lazard, one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite receivers – he seems to have a lot of favorite receivers, but certainly this is one of them – he is working on a deal with the New York Jets,” Rapoport said on Tuesday I know there was another team involved, it does not sound like that team is involved anymore. So it seems to be all jets for Allen Lazard.”

“We’ll see if they can work out a deal here and we’ll see if it can be a package deal,” Rapoport continued. “We’ll see if another one of Aaron Rodgers’ friends, Randall Cobb, also comes to the Jets – which I would say probably will happen if Aaron Rodgers comes to the Jets, which we think will happen but we don’t know.”

It’s a major move in the Rodgers saga, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter, with most laughing at the Jets for the move.

This all comes after the Jets already hired Nathaniel Hackett – Rodgers’ friend and longtime offensive coordinator with the Green Bay Packers.

They’re certainly selling out to bring in Rodgers. We’ll see how it works out for them.
