Aaron Rodgers hit the field for OTAs on Monday, but the New York Jets quarterback became hampered and had to exit early with an injury.

Ironically, Dianna Russini of ESPN first spotlighted that something went awry for the newly-acquired Jet quarterback. Russini, at practice, snapped a photo of the Super Bowl XLV champion and tweeted, “Aaron Rodgers off to the side, favoring his ankle, checking it. Something clearly not right.”

Russini was right to have her suspicions. After the session ended, Rodgers revealed that he sustained a calf injury after the Jets’ practice session.

Rich Cimini of ESPN tweeted, “Aaron Rodgers says he ‘tweaked my calf…’ and added that he didn’t think it was a severe injury.

Jet fans held their breath watching Rodgers and another newly-acquired player go down Monday morning. Allen Lazard, who comes from Green Bay, left the field but soon returned.

So luckily for the Jets and their fans, they didn’t see their prized acquisition this off-season go down in a heap in one of his first practice sessions with the team. You hope that it doesn’t become a theme, Rodgers and his lower leg, that is, but that is also the risk you take on an old quarterback also. But for right now, it sure seems like things are going to be copacetic for the Jets and Aaron Rodgers even after this minor injury.
