As per usual, Mike Francesa has opened himself up to criticism, while also taking a shot at someone who could be indirectly involved in the New York sports landscape. No stranger to controversy, the former legendary WFAN radio host blasted Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the way he’s conducted himself this offseason.

Rodgers has yet to make a decision on his playing future. The 39-year-old emerged from his darkness retreat last week and still has yet to publically disclose if he’ll be retiring, returning to Green Bay, or opting to be traded to a team like the New York Jets.

“I think the way he has handled it has been utterly ridiculous,” said Francesa on “The Mike Francesa Podcast” Thursday. “It’s made him look foolish. Say nothing until you’re ready to say something. This whole idea that you’re spending days in the darkness and all this other stuff makes him look like a weirdo. That’s what it does. It makes him look like someone you don’t want to do business with, despite the fact he is an all-time great at the position.”

It’s no secret that the Jets need an answer under center. Rodgers could very well be that, as New York appears primed to be a contender in the AFC, though, it’s still a quarterback away from being a serious threat. While that may be the case, consider Francesa as another sports media personality who has absolutely had it with Rodgers’ antics.

“He comes off as a guy who you think is just out there in the ozone,” Francesa said. “And nobody wants to give a guy who is out in the ozone $50 million a year to play. But we all know he is a proven commodity at the position.”

Francesa, like many, is running out of patience with Rodgers, who is expected to make a decision on his playing future prior to the start of free agency on March 15.
