It’s become clear that the New York Jets are planning to sign a veteran quarterback this offseason and are willing to pay whatever it takes. That’s led to plenty of speculation and reports that the Jets could be interested in trading for Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the team has now emerged as one of the reported frontrunners. And it sure sounds like the Jets would welcome him with open arms.

This week, New York Jets tight end C.J. Uzomah was asked his thoughts on the Aaron Rodgers rumors. And he had a pretty candid response.

“I take it, for what it is,” Uzomah said. “There are rumors and if it’s a spot that he wants to come to, then come on. Come with it. We’ll accept you, for sure.”

Of course, if the Jets added Rodgers, that would mean former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson would have to take on a backup role. But Uzomah sounds confident it would work out.

“I know that he and Zach (Wilson) have a good relationship. Zach’s somebody that looks up to him,” Uzomah said. “Shoot, I look up to him. I think he’s a hell of a quarterback. So it’d be sick to have him tossing us some touchdowns and leading the offense.”

Not only would Uzomah accept Rodgers, it sure sounds like he plans to actively recruit him to New York.

“I’m with everyone else. I’m gonna be on social media a little bit, saying ‘hey, if this is a landing spot you want to come to, we’ve got the pieces, we’ve got a bunch of young guys that are hungry who will listen to what your older self has to say.'”
