The New York Jets made one of the most anticipated trades in league history with the Green Bay Packers for the services of former Super Bowl champion quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rogers, however, appeared to suffer an ankle injury in one of his first practices with his new team, according to ESPN reporter Dianna Russini:

While the specifics of the injury aren’t yet known, the internet was quick to react to the news:

While Rodgers welcomed the trade to the Jets, he recently admitted that he would only be partaking in “about half” of the offseason’s team-organized activities.

“I really wanted to be here the first week to get to know the guys and to go through the workouts and be around,” Rodgers said recently. “I have some things planned,  got to miss a few days, but it’s been good to be out here with all the guys. I think guys feel the energy that I’ve been bringing and that I kind of bring on a daily basis and I think there’s a lot of excitement around here.”

Rodgers knew attending some of the activities would be key to developing chemistry with his new teammates.

“I knew with a new team that I was going to have to be here a little bit more, just to get to know the guys, let them feel the cadence and start to step into the leadership role that is going to be open for my seamless transition there as a quarterback,” Rodgers said. “So definitely wanted to be here a little bit more, but I’m still going to take some time and get back out west at some point.”

Only time will tell how this injury affects Rodgers and his new team.
