When Aaron Rodgers joined the New York Jets this offseason, it wasn’t immediately clear just how long he planned to stay with his new team. Some even expressed concern that Rodgers could choose to walk away from the team and retire after just one season in New York. But it does not sound like that’s the plan.
During a recent interview, Aaron Rodgers brought up the New York Jets competitive window, where he made it clear that this is “not just a one-year thing.”
“I love being around the young energy, the excitement,” Rodgers said according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. “There’s a great feel to this team, guys who are young and super talented on their first contracts, many of them. . . . When you have so many great players on rookie deals, it’s pretty exciting, knowing you can do something. You’ve got a good window. It’s not just a one-year thing where you can be competitive, which is fun.”
It’s a pretty major announcement from Rodgers as it publically acknowledges that he does not plan to retire after just one season with the team, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media.

We still don’t know exactly how long Rodgers plans to play, but it sounds like it’s at least going to be longer than one more year.
