Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers still has yet to announce whether he will be playing football again next season or if he will be retiring. However, it sounds like his chances of returning for another season are quite slim.
During an appearance on 93.7 The Fan, CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala said that the chances of Aaron Rodgers ultimately returning for the 2026 season are “minuscule.”
“Having spoken to people who were around him, who have been around him, most everyone that I’ve spoken to who has been around him feels that the chance that he comes back to play is minuscule, so you take that for what it’s worth,” Kinkhabwala said.
“In conversations with people who were around him all year, who were with him when he was leaving the Steelers when the season was over, all of those people that I spoke to said that it seems far more likely that he is done than that he is going to return.”
There has been a lot of speculation that Rodgers could come back for one more season to reunite with his former head coach, Mike McCarthy.
McCarthy and Rodgers spent 12 seasons together with the Green Bay Packers, even winning Super Bowl LXV together. Now, McCarthy is taking over as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers after the departure of Mike Tomlin.
Based on this report, it seems like Rodgers will not be reuniting with his former head coach, after all.
We’ll have to see when an official announcement comes from Rodgers, but this seems to indicate that he will be retiring, after all.
