Even though Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers has yet to decide whether or not he’s even playing football next season, much less for which team, and the Packers haven’t made clear whether or not they would be willing to trade him, that’s not stopping anybody from speculating. There’s certainly been a lot of smoke that Rodgers could join the New York Jets, and at least one star player would welcome him to the Big Apple.

During an interview this week, New York Jets young star cornerback Sauce Gardner was asked if he would want Aaron Rodgers to join the Jets. And after calling him “definitely elite,” Gardner revealed that he would welcome Rodgers to New York.

“I mean, you know, I would,” Gardner said. “I wouldn’t mind that. I just want what’s best for the offense. But, at the same time, I just got to focus on my job and focus on what we’ve got going on on the defensive side.”

As the Jets search for a proven and reliable quarterback, Rodgers has been linked to the Jets for several weeks in rumors and reports. That link appeared to get stronger when the Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett as their new offensive coordinator.

Hackett has a strong connection to Rodgers as he was previously the offensive coordinator for Green Bay Packers for three seasons. During two of those seasons, Rodgers won the league MVP award.

We’ll have to wait and see if Rodgers ultimately ends up in New York, but it seems pretty clear that they want him.
