When Aaron Rodgers joined the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason just in time for training camp, he seemed pretty certain that this would be his final season of playing professional football. Then the Steelers started the season hot, and the four tuned MVP winner looked like he had more to give to the game.

In recent weeks, Rodgers seemed to walk back his decision to retire at the conclusion of this campaign, electing instead to revisit the decision after he’s taken some time to decompress and reflect.

While, ultimately, this season was imperative than Rodgers’s previous two, which he spent with the New York Jets, the Steelers were blown out in the Wild Card round by the Houston Texans.

After the game, Rodgers confirmed his decision to take some time before he makes his final choice in whether to hang up the cleats.

“I’m not gonna make any emotional decisions,” Rodgers said, according to Pro Football Talk. “Disappointed, you know, obviously, it was such a fun year. You know, a lot of adversity, but a lot of fun, been a great year.

”You know, overall in my life in the last year, and this is, you know, a really good part of that, coming here and being a part of this team. So it’s disappointing to be sitting here with the season over.”

Fans reacted to Rodgers’s words on social media.

“Bro needs to hang em up. Can even have his tush pushed,” one can wrote on Twitter.

“Tomlin needs a fall guy every year. Matt Canada, Kenny Pickett, Russell Wilson etc. Rodgers won’t be back. Kirk Cousins, come on down!” someone else added.

“Steelers fans should prepare to wait for his next ‘darkness retreat’ &/or ‘ayahuasca’ trip. And NO, im not judging him at all for this & believe they can both b beneficial for some ppl (not all),” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Monday night was the last time we see the legend suit up.
