The Detroit Lions suffered a 37-23 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. But after the game, one of the primary conversations wasn’t even about the game itself, but the absolutely brutal field conditions at Carolina’s Bank of America Stadium.

Following the game, Detriot Lions star rookie pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson had plenty to say about the field conditions, revealing that it was “the most concrete field” he’s ever played on and that he was shocked they were even allowed to play on such a terrible surface.

“That was the most concrete field I’ve ever been on in my whole life,” Aidan Hutchinson told MLive. “I didn’t think that was actually legal to play on. Warming up, you’re trying to turn the corner, and literally in warmups, I fell in my first one-on-one rep right on my face.

“I don’t know if there is a standard you have to meet for turf, but I think it got better later in the game, so it wasn’t too much of a factor. But, I mean, it was very concrete-like for sure.”

Obviously, both teams had to deal with the conditions, so it was still a fair game. But it’s certainly concerning for players to face such brutal playing conditions.
