Given the wild numbers that Anthony Richardson put up at the 2023 NFL Combine, it’s no surprise that people are starting to draw comparisons to the Florida quarterback and NFL stars.

However, ESPN’s Dan Orlonsky certainly raised the bar on Monday when he compared Richardson to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

During an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, Orlovsky explained why he felt that Richardson was on the same path to stardom that Buffalo Bills All-Pro quarterback Josh Allen took.

“I have been since the first game of his that I called in college football,” Orlovsky said. “I was like, this kid is so super talented and you heard more about him, how intelligent he is, how hard he works, the character.

“For me, his player comparison is Josh Allen, that’s where the path is. What I liked about Josh coming out of school was that he was a very loose thrower. Like it wasn’t tight, that’s why I say he’s a very natural thrower. I think Anthony has the natural throwing motion.”

Richardson wasn’t considered a hot prospect until the combine, so for him to suddenly be compared to one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL is quite the leap in the eyes of many.

The former Gators quarterback completed 54 percent of his passes for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions last season. We’ll find out if his athleticism outshines his production at the 2023 NFL Draft.
