It is not uncommon for rich athletes to have private chefs to help keep them in shape and eating well. Such was the case for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, or at least it was until recently. The Steelers receiver apparently cut ties with his private chef, Chef Niko, and the disgruntled chef took his grief to YouTube like a jilted ex-lover might.

“I thought he was my friend and that’s not the case I guess,” Niko said in a video shared via TMZ.

The reason for the new chef choice for Brown remains unknown, and Chef Niko certainly did not shed any insight into the situation other than throwing a mild pity party for his situation. It sure feels odd, given how Niko refrains from getting into details about the breakup.

And it doesn’t look like these two are merely on a break, either. Brown shared an update on Snapchat showing off food cooked by his new chef and confirmed Chef Niko is no longer cooking his meals.

Just earlier this month, FTW did a feature story on Niko and how he became Brown’s personal chef. Cooking helped him overcome a number of drug-related issues in his past, and he was presented with an opportunity to show what he can do in the kitchen to Brown by way of his aunt, a massage therapist Brown had been using in Miami. One thing led to another and Niko ended up cooking all the meals for Brown and his family.

Was there something in the FTW story that Brown did not approve? Who knows. The timing all feels kind of strange, however.
