Apparently, Steelers’ receiver Antonio Brown wants to be addressed as “Ronald” now.

When asked about his special cleats for the NFL’s week allowing players to express themselves via their footwear, Brown dropped this on the assembled media:

You should all be very confused with the situation, and you should also wonder why Brown is starting this now of all times. Thankfully, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette tried to help us all decode what’s going on by posting the full exchange.

When a media member asked Brown about “the Ronald thing”, because that’s all you could possibly say to this situation, Brown responded by saying, “It’s my new name — Ronald … It’s top secret. From now on, address me as Ronald.”

He also added this tidbit earlier: “I’m watching Ronald every day,” Brown said. “There’s effects against Ronald everywhere.”

The creator of the Big Mac did pass away this week, and maybe the connection would make sense logically if Brown was supporting the Ronald McDonald House on his cleats, but he’s actually supporting Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

While we all have no idea why Brown wants to be called Ronald now, we’re pretty sure Joe Buck isn’t going to be calling him “Ronald Brown” on Sunday. We’re also sure of very little anymore, considering we still have no clue why Antonio Brown wants to be referred to as “Ronald” now. Your guess is as good as ours. And “Ronald” is no “He Hate Me.”
