If Brock Osweiler was hoping to make a statement Monday night with the Houston Texans in his return to Denver, he failed spectacularly. The Broncos sent their former backup and supposed heir to Peyton Manning home with a 27-9 defeat. After the game, at least one of Osweiler’s former teammates was not shy in expressing just how fortunate the Broncos are not to have Osweiler leading the offense this season.

Aqib Talib praised Broncos general manager John Elway for not signing Osweiler this offseason for the money he ended up receiving from Houston ($72 million!), while also suggesting current Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian is better anyway.

“If you look at it overall, (Elway) saved a bunch of money. And Trev is a great quarterback, man. He’s better than Brock in my eyes. So it’s a win-win situation,” Broncos Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib told USA TODAY Sports.

Shots. Fired.

He may be right though. Siemian has a higher completion percentage. Osweiler ranks 29th in the league in that category. Osweiler has been picked off eight times this season, fourth-most among NFL QBs. Siemian has only thrown three interceptions this season. Siemian also has the upper hand in passer rating with a 91.8 to Osweiler’s 71.9. Yikes.

Maybe Aqib isn’t just trash-talking. Maybe he’s just truth-telling.
