Football is a violent and contact sport where injuries happen from time to time on routine plays, but San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead thinks a play from Jacksonville Jaguars right guard Brandon Scherff crossed a line during their matchup on Sunday afternoon.

Following Sunday’s game, Arik Armstead claims that he was the victim of a “dirty play” from Brandon Scherff after the Jaguars left guard kicked him in the knee as he tried to rush Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

“He tripped me, kicked me in my knee and kind of messed up my day. . . . I didn’t know what happened,” Armstead said according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I have a lot of respect for him, but tripping me, kicking me in my knee, [I] could have got seriously hurt. It was just a dirty play.”

It sounds like Armstead avoided a serious injury as a result of the play, but it’s clear that he was not happy with it.

As for the game itself, however, the Niners absolutely blasted the Jaguars, winning the game by a final score of 37-3 as the team dominated Jacksonville on both sides of the ball the entire game.
