The Arizona Cardinals remain invested in starting quarterback Kyler Murray. However, as we’ve learned in many situations, it’s always good to have some dependable veterans on the depth chart, for one reason or another.

While the Cardinals hope that Murray can recover from the torn ACL he suffered in December and that backup quarterback Colt McCoy can also recover from an injury of their own, Arizona shored up their depth chart on Monday night by signing David Blough to a one-year deal.

Blough started the final two games of the season last year for the Cardinals following all of the injuries that their other quarterbacks were dealt.

The Cardinals signed Blough during last season, snagging him from the Minnesota Vikings, who previously had him on their practice squad. The former Purdue star garnered 402 passing yards with two touchdowns and two picks in two losses to the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers to close out Arizona’s disappointing season.

Blough is best known for his stint with the Detroit Lions. He also spent time with the Cleveland Browns practice squad as well as the Vikings.

It remains to be seen if Blough will see the field for the Cardinals in 2023. If he does, that’s probably not a great sign for their chances to turn things around.
