The NFL world was rocked by an extremely controversial call this weekend when the Atlanta Falcons were called for a ridiculous roughing the passer penalty when Falcons defensive lineman Grady Jarrett threw Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady to the ground for an apparent sack only to be given a costly penalty.

There have been several reactions to the events with the referees doubling down on the call after the game and Stephen A. Smith placing the blame on Tom Brady. But on Monday afternoon, Falcons head coach Arthur Smith had a chance to address the incident and he took the high road, saying the team just needs to “control what you can control.”

“It’s like a lot of things in life, [you] control what you can control, and what we can control is how to get better,” Smith told reporters Monday in a video shared by Michael Rothstein. “We have a huge game Sunday here in Atlanta against the Niners, so that’s what our focus is now.”

As Smith said, the team now has a chance to rebounding with an upcoming matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. With a win, the team can improve to 3-3 on the season.
