Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield moved on from his former team long ago, even before he was formally traded to the Carolina Panthers last month. Since the Browns traded for former Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, Mayfield made it clear he had no intentions of returning to the Browns.

So when a fan showed up outside the Panthers’ training camp holding his old Browns jersey and yelled to get his attention, Mayfield had a pretty blunt, but lighthearted response.

“Get that jersey out of here,” Mayfield said to the fan in a video shared by Schuyler Callihan.

After addressing the fan, Mayfield smirked and walked away.

Mayfield has been candid about his thoughts on the Browns organization since before he even departed Cleveland, saying he felt “disrespected.” So it’s not exactly shocking to see him moving on from the team so quickly.

“I feel disrespected, 100 percent,” said Mayfield said on the YNK Podcast back in April. “Because I was told one thing and they did another. That’s what I’m in the middle of right now. I’ve had four different head coaches in four years. A bunch of different coordinators. 2019 sucked, 2020 was great, made the playoffs, and 2021 was miserable. I am just looking for stabilization right now.

“I know what I need to do to be the best version of me and to be able to lead an organization. I am in a good place right now. I have no clue where I am going.”

Things could certainly get interesting when the Browns open the season against the Panthers on Sept. 11.
