It’s certainly been an up-and-down season for Baker Mayfield this year. After struggling with the Carolina Panthers, the team unceremoniously released him midway through the season and he was ultimately claimed by the Los Angeles Rams and quickly earned the team’s starting spot after a dominant debut with the team. Mayfield may have struggled in the team’s final game, but he’s still confident in himself.

With the season now over, Baker Mayfield is set to become a free agent in the coming months. And he believes he has the chance to be a starting quarterback in the league.

“I have no doubt about that,” Mayfield said according to Sarah Barshop of ESPN. “Today, I’m not real happy with how I played. I’m going to kick myself over and over for not putting that ball on the sideline for Van [Jefferson] on that last play.

“But, no, I know I’m a starting quarterback. I’m confident in that. And we’ll just see what happens.”

Mayfield also revealed that he enjoyed playing in Los Angeles so much that it’s going to impact how he makes his upcoming free-agent decision.

“I’m not going to just go chase a check to go start and play,” Mayfield said. “After seeing a place that makes me have fun playing football again, it’s going to be hard to try something else new, but obviously it’s going to be a big-time decision.”

Mayfield is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
