The Baltimore Ravens and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson believe that this is the year the team can get over the hump and get to the Super Bowl for the first time in Jackson’s career.
Unfortunately, Jackson may be forced to navigate the treacherous waters of the NFL season without one of his top targets for the first part of the season.
“Ravens HC John Harbaugh told reporters that TE Isaiah Likely rolled his ankle and is now expected to miss a few weeks,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, the Ravens confirmed that things are a good deal worse than just a rolled ankle for the tight end.
“Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely suffered a small foot fracture during Tuesday’s practice, sources told (Jamison Hensley) and me. If all goes well, it’s an early season return and Week 1 is possible,” reported Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday morning.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Foot fractures aren’t worst case scenario but can NOT be rushed Recovery time all depends on location & how complex the fracture is Best case is typically 6 weeks but it can take up to 12 weeks in some cases Good thing is, once it’s healed, he should be g2g rest of season,” one doctor wrote on Twitter.
“Honestly great news, no need to rush him back. Our depth at TE is great. Good thing we didn’t trade Mandrews,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see when Likely can return to the field.
