Nobody knows everything about everything. And we indeed seem to live in a golden age of conspiracy theories.

That said, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey turned heads on Twitter on Friday when he admitted to being “today years old” when he discovered that the Titanic, one of the greatest disasters in human history, was an actual event.

“That’s wild, lowkey,” Humphrey admitted.

Humphrey did not clarify what he previously thought about Titanic, which was also one of the subjects of one of the most famous movies featuring lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Granted, you can’t be too sure if someone is being serious when they say something like this. And Humphrey has been known to say some crazy things. But… this was pretty wild.

The NFL world was quick to react to the news:

An estimated 1,500 of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard the doomed ship perished in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912.

It remains the deadliest peacetime sinking of an ocean liner or cruise ship. It also founded the disaster film genre.

The Titanic was considered unsinkable when it set sail. Yet its hull couldn’t hold when it struck an unforeseen iceberg in the middle of the Atlantic. It cost nearly $186 million in 2022 currency to build.

Equipped with only 20 lifeboats, the small rafts could only hold about half the ship’s capacity. Captain Edward Smith went down with the ship.
