The Chicago Bears just made an absolute blockbuster trade.
Chicago will send the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers sent the No. 9 overall pick to Chicago, as well as a bounty of picks and star wide receiver, D.J. Moore.
Rumblings of the move came around on Friday morning and afternoon. A noticeable shift in betting odds suggested Carolina might be making a move for the pick. Sure enough, the move was made on Friday evening.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport initially reported the move, and details soon followed from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Major draft shakeup 🚨 🚨 🚨
Sources say the #Bears are trading the No. 1 overall pick to the #Panthers in exchange for big-time compensation including multiple 1st rounders. Chicago loads up and lands at No. 9, while Carolina can draft its QB of the future. pic.twitter.com/DNvYMStoxd

Schefter’s details of the trade included: Picks No. 9 and 61 in the 2023 Draft, a first-rounder in 2024, a second-rounder in 2025, and the talented receiver Moore.
Compensation update, per sources: Bears trading No. 1 overall pick to Carolina for:

🏈pick No. 61

This is a massive, massive trade. A blockbuster and then some. D.J. Moore has quietly been one of the most talented receivers in the NFL. He’s racked over 5,000 receiving yards in his five-year career and that was with quarterback play that, simply, could’ve been a lot better. Now he’ll go to a team with a promising young star in Justin Fields to be a potential gamebreaker.
The Bears also come away with a big haul of picks and didn’t have to give too much up for it either.
The NFL world is absolutely buzzing over this blockbuster trade.

Bears GM Ryan Poles just turned the number 1 pick in the draft during a year in which he didn’t need a QB into two first round picks, two second round picks and a legit WR1 in DJ Moore to help flesh out the offense.
What. A. Move.

Why I love this — there are very few true. X receivers in this year's draft, and it's slim pickings at the position in free agency.
So the Bears went out and got one, and now Mooney and Claypool slide to 2 and 3. That's a *nice* group.

D.J. Moore's 364 receptions over the last five seasons would make him third on the Bears' all-time receptions leaderboard, trailing only Walter Payton and Matt Forte. His 5,202 receiving yards would be most in franchise history. And he's only 25 years old arriving to Chicago.

I like this. DJ Moore makes this trade sweet. Only way it could have been better is if the Bears had found a way to trade down twice to 9.
Justin Fields future is bright. https://t.co/asdN9WF8KZ

This trade could change the trajectory of #Bears history as we know it.
Ryan Poles got premier draft capital and a true WR1 in DJ Moore. Now, you invest heavily in OL/DL in free agency. What a perfect situation this is playing out to be for Chicago.
