The Cincinnati Bengals are eager to get back to the playoffs after a two-year hiatus. Cincinnati has been plagued in recent seasons by slow starts, and responded this offseason by increasing the workload of thier starters, including star quarterback Joe Burrow, who has seen action in both of the Bengals’ preseason games.
However, the risk is that the Burrow and the Bengals’ most important players are putting themselves at an increased risk of injury before meaningful games arrive. Unfortunately, it would appear that’s exactly what transpired as the team, and Burrow in particular, considering the importance the offensive line has in keeping Burrow healthy, got some devastating news on Wednesday.
“Bengals G Cordell Volson, who has started 48 games over the last three years, will likely miss the entire 2025 NFL season with a shoulder injury that requires surgery,” reported Ari Meirov on Twitter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Anybody that says we are cooked didn’t watch this guy play lol , heal up tho,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Joe Burrow needs protection and this ain’t it,” someone else added.
“(Queue) the excuses when joe doesn’t make the playoffs again,” one person added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Bengals approach replacing Volson right before the season starts.
