The Cincinnati Bengals have been a train wreck of a team ever since losing star quarterback Joe Burrow to a turf toe injury that is expected to keep him out for at least three months. The Bengals traded with the Cleveland Browns to acquire veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, and the offense improved immediately upon his arrival, but the results have been disastrous on the other side of the ball.
On Sunday, Flacco threw for over 450 yards and four touchdowns, but the defense couldn’t get enough stops, and the Bengals lost in brutal fashion at home to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Shockingly, some of the players on the defensive side were making light of how things are going on that side of the ball after the game.
“The locker room is showing its cracks,” Bengals reporter Mike Petraglia reported after the game. “The ones to laugh or decline by saying ‘catch you on Monday’ were Jordan Battle, Shemar Stewart, TJ Slaton. Also declining were Kris Jenkins and Myles Murphy.”
Fans reacted to the horrible look on social media.
“They don’t care. We don’t either. Every time they touch the field we should boo,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“I hope Burrow asks to be traded. It’s the only way this front office wakes up. He left Ohio St and won a national championship and the Heisman. Don’t think he won’t do it again,” someone else added.
“Culture. The Bengals went to the Super Bowl when the team had incredible chemistry. The magic secret sauce, the lightning in the bottle. The Bengals Front Office squandered it. We now have a caldron ready to blow. This is the result of ongoing incompetence. Unforgivable,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see where Cincinnati’s season goes from here.
