The Cincinnati Bengals had their season, which got off to an impressive 2-0 start, completely derailed by an injury to star quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow suffered a turf toe injury in the second game of the season that was optimistically expected to keep him out for at least three months.
Cincinnati has gone 1-5 without Burow, and even resorted to making an intradivision trade with the Cleveland Browns to acquire veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to try and stabilize things.
However, it was reported earlier this week that Burrow had already progressed to the point where he no longer required a walking boot, which could mean that if the Bengals can get the ship turned around, the three-month expectation is more realistic than optimistic, setting up a potential playoff return.
“Joe Burrow has progressed to no walking boot. Strolls through locker room in normal athletic running shoes,” reported Mike Petraglia.
Now, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is confirming the positive trend in Burrow’s rehab process.
“Joe Burrow’s rehab so far has gone ‘as we hoped’ according to head coach Zac Taylor during his press conference today,” SleeperBengals reported.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Literally who cares we aren’t in a position when he comes back we’d be playoff bound,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Doesn’t matter unless we gut this staff and hire Jon Gruden right now. We won’t be in playoff contention if we don’t,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Cincinnati can stay afloat until Burrow is ready to return to the field.
