The NFL has unveiled the color rush uniforms that teams will wear when they play on Thursday nights this year, just as they did last season.
In general, NFL uniforms have gotten better since Nike started outfitting the league when the contract was up with Reebok, and so having the swoosh in charge of the color rush uniforms has been great. But some of the color rush uniforms aren’t as great as others. That’s expected, I mean, you can’t hit on everything.
In no particular order, here are the best and worst five of the color rush uniforms.
Note: I really have no issue with any of these and color rush is really the only good thing about Thursday Night Football.
The Worst
Jacksonville Jaguars
The uniforms could have been all black, or they could have been that sweet teal color. Instead, they chose the tan/brown whatever you wish to call it. But they look like the Pokemon Sandshrew, so there’s that.
Oakland Raiders
I actually really like these. They’re essentially a throwback uniform, which is fine. But if we’re talking “color rush” this was a great opportunity to go all silver, and let them wear these on a Sunday or Monday night.
Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones just refuses to let his team wear blue unless it’s on Thanksgiving. Come on.
Green Bay Packers
This was a great chance to go all green, or better yet, all yellow. The all white is nice, but again, color rush.
New England Patriots
These aren’t awful (really none of these are, Nike is amazing), but going all red would have been nice. Also, the stripes on the shoulders don’t really seem to fit on the uniform.
The Best
Seattle Seahawks
We’ve been waiting for Nike to do something like this to the Seahawks uniforms essentially since they took over the NFL’s uniforms. It’s great to see it come to life and all of you old heads are gonna hate them.
Los Angeles Rams
I will forever be an advocate for the Rams going back to their old color scheme, and that includes this shade of yellow as opposed to the current gold.
Cincinnati Bengals
I didn’t like some teams above wearing white because it’s the color rush. But these are different, they’re sick, and you can’t deny it.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers already have one of the best uniforms in the NFL, and the all-blue getup is just perfect.
Miami Dolphins
I’m all in for orange alternates. It also might be the best looking thing about the Dolphins this year!
