United States President Donald Trump left no doubt about how he felt about the NFL’s selection of Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny as the headlining musical artist for Super Bowl LX’s halftime show.
“I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” the President said. The NFL, however, stood by its initial decision.
“Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene. As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages, and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage,” said Jon Baker, the SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.
“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”
As controversial as Trump’s opinion led to Bad Bunny’s show being, it was still largely received positively. Now, one of the biggest names in entertainment is giving a nod to Puerto Rico in the wake of all the controversy.

Fans reacted to the photo on social media.
“Now everyone wants to be a latino hahaha like bad bunny said,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Beyoncé posting with the Puerto Rican flag after Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl moment is either solidarity or strategic cultural connection,” one person added.
“Beyoncé repping the flag like this. She knows how to make a statement without saying a word. That’s the kind of energy that moves people,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Beyoncé and Bad Bunny get together for a collaboration soon.
