Over the past few seasons, Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons has been one of the most dominant players in the NFL and is the clear-cut favorite to be the NFL defensive MVP this season, but New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn’t willing to put him ahead of one of his favorite all-time players just yet.
During a recent press conference, Bill Belichick was asked how Micah Parsons compares to New England Patriots legend Lawrence Taylor. But Belichick wasn’t ready to put him ahead of Taylor.
“I think comparing players like that, it’s not really — I would just say, I wouldn’t put anybody ahead of Lawrence Taylor, period,” Belichick said. “Now, maybe I’m prejudiced, but I mean, I saw that guy every day for over a decade and he tilted the field for a decade. So, until somebody does that — and there’s a lot of great players and I’m not taking anything away from anybody else, there’s a lot of great players that have been in this league, that are in this league.
“But personally, I’m not putting anybody ahead of Lawrence Taylor. Not yet.”
Still, Belichick made it clear that he has plenty of respect for Parsons and what he adds to the Dallas Cowboys defense. We’ll have to see how Parsons performs against the Patriots this week.
