After an 0-2 start, naturally people will start looking for scapegoats to hang the blame on, and Rex Ryan has found one in now former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, despite the fact that his vaunted defense gave up 37 points to Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets.

Roman was the highest paid OC in the NFL, and will be replaced by running backs coach/assistant head coach Anthony Lynn starting immediately. Lynn was formerly the running backs coach for the Jets under Ryan from 2009 to 2014. The Bills only gained 160 yards on offense against Baltimore while scoring seven points, but rebounded against the Jets by gaining 393 yards and scoring 31 points, but that wasn’t enough to save Roman. Rex Ryan hired Roman when he took the job in Buffalo last winter after he also interviewed for the vacant head coaching position.

Roman was the offensive coordinator in San Francisco from 2011 to 2014 after he followed Jim Harbaugh from Stanford to San Francisco.

This move reeks of desperation and dysfunction from a team trying to grasp onto something, anything positive that looks to be slipping away fast. The Bills have lost two winnable games to start their season and face incredibly difficult challenges ahead with games against Arizona and New England to come. Though most of the issues last night were focused on a defense that couldn’t get the Jets offense off the field, Ryan figured that the offense was the bigger issue (or that he didn’t want to fire his brother).

It sure looks like the Bills wait for a playoff appearance will continue this season.
