The Seattle Seahawks completely shook up the core of the franchise on Tuesday, trading long-time quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos as well as releasing former All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Wagner has been with the Seahawks for the entire duration of his ten-year career and was seemingly taken by being released without any warning. On Friday, he took a jab at his former organization for how the situation went down.

“Crazy part about all this,” wrote Wagner. “I played there for 10 years & I didn’t even hear from them that I wasn’t coming back.”

This tweet has garnered a ton of reactions with many agreeing with Wagner that the Seahawks were in the wrong here, including notable NFL players such as Indianapolis Colts star linebacker Darius Leonard and Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay.

Wagner certainly shouldn’t have too much trouble getting a contract with another team. He has been named a Pro-Bowler in every season since 2013, including the past year. He has been as productive as it gets for any linebacker in the league, so it was certainly shocking to see the team just cut bait despite him not showing any signs of slowing down.

Seattle could have given him a little notice that his time with the team could be coming to an end, especially considering how much he has given to the franchise over the years. But the NFL is certainly a cold-blooded business where anyone can be shocked about the status of their employment at any time. It’s a lesson Bobby Wagner learned all too well.
