Brett Favre The Mississippi Department of Human Services on Monday sued retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre along with several other people and businesses to try to recover millions of misspent welfare dollars that were intended to help some of the poorest people in the U.S. Xxx 0807 Clemson Practice 28 Jpg S Bbc Usa Sc

An NCAA volleyball player’s decision to transfer rarely makes the student newspaper, let alone national news.

When it’s Brett Favre’s daughter, it’s definitely breaking news, given all the scandal surrounding his volleyball booster-related activities on behalf of his daughter.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Friday that “LSU beach volleyball’s Breleigh Favre is in the NCAA transfer portal. She’s the daughter of Brett Favre and signed with LSU in August as a graduate transfer from Southern Miss.”

Southern Miss, of course, is where Favre has become mired in scandal.

Favre’s text messages linked him to the misuse of millions of dollars meant for his state’s poorest residents to fund a football facility and a volleyball arena for his daughter at Southern Miss, Favre’s alma mater.

The Mississippi Department of Human Services sued Favre and a University of Southern Mississippi sports foundation, seeking repayment of $5 million misused from the welfare fund to pay for a volleyball facility at Southern Miss. Favre has denied knowing where those funds came from, and said he is being “unjustly smeared.”

The retired Hall of Fame quarterback has had his hands full with other issues as well, including an investigation into his connection to a “concussion cream” that claimed to help concussion victims recover from head injuries.

LSU had just announced Breleigh Favre’s arrival as a transfer on Aug. 21.

“We are excited to add Breleigh to our roster,” LSU coach Russell Brock said at the time (via crescentcitysports.com).

Favre played both indoor and beach volleyball at Southern Miss, playing on the school’s inaugural beach volleyball team in 2019.
