For many years, the Green Bay Packers were led by star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and star receiver Davante Adams. But now, both of those players are on other teams, competing against the Packers. It’s a pretty brutal turn of events, but Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst understands it had to be done.

During a press conference this week, Gutekunst said “that’s part of the job” when asked a question about making the difficult decisions to part ways with both Rodgers and Adams.

“That’s part of the job, right?” Gutekunst said Monday according to Pro Football Talk. “Absolutely. That’s part of the job. Obviously, Aaron was entering a time in his career where he was going to be ending, and we had to be prepared for the future and get prepared to try to move forward. Yeah, that’s part of the National Football League. Great players are going to come, and they’re going to go. You’ve got to be prepared to add good football players to your roster, so you can keep winning. This is the National Football League.”

It may be part of the job, but it’s safe to say that Gutekunst and the Packers fans won’t be too happy if Rodgers or Adams is able to win a Super Bowl with another team.
