Brian Hoyer hasn’t been great so far this season in San Francisco, although he doesn’t have a ton of help around him. Today, in Arizona taking on the Cardinals, he completed a quick-hitting pass for a 12-yard gain when he was awkwardly rolled up from behind.

It looked pretty ugly, the kind of play that would perhaps knock Hoyer out for the game, and maybe even an extended period of time:

Instead, though, Hoyer jogged off under his own power, missed just one play (rookie backup C.J. Beathard handed the ball off to Carlos Hyde for a first down), then returned to the field to finish the drive, which ended with a 49ers field goal. That’s pretty damn impressive flexibility for Hoyer, all things considered.

Look at Rich Eisen dropping some heat on the league! It was a weirdly uncalled penalty, considering the delayed timing of the pulldown, and the fact that there was even some helmet-to-helmet bumping to start the whole thing off. Fortunately Hoyer seems to be okay, although the game itself has been anything but entertaining.
