The NFL has gotten serious about protecting quarterbacks in recent years to the point. In fact, the number of controversial roughing the passer penalties have become frustrating to fans lately and has a number of prominent players calling for a change in the way the penalty is called. But on Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was thrown to the turf violently with no flag – and his wife Brittany Mahomes was not happy about it.

During the second quarter of Sunday afternoon’s game against the Houston Texans, Mahomes dropped the snap and had to scramble to recover the fumble. After he picked up the ball, Texans defensive lineman Maliek Collins grabbed him and threw him hard to the turf.

No flag was thrown for roughing the passer, but Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany Mahomes thinks that the referees should have thrown a flag. And she took to Twitter to voice her displeasure that the officials were not protecting the quarterback on the play.

“I’m confused, we are allowed to tackle quarterbacks like that now? Got it. The inconsistency is BS,” Brittany Mahomes said on Twitter. “I’m tired of the dirty hits.”

The NFL made a point to ease up on calling roughing the passer penalties this year, and they have done that statistically, but they’ve also made it clear that protecting the quarterback will remain a priority going forward.
