For the first time in his NFL career, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has lost back-to-back games.

The Minnesota Vikings pulled out a 22-17 victory over the 49ers on Monday Night Football, eight days after the Niners lost to the Cleveland Browns for their first loss of the season.

Purdy also played two of the worst games of his career in the losses, going 12-for-27 for 125 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Cleveland and then going 21-for-30 for 272 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions against the Vikings.

While the line against the Vikings doesn’t look too bad for the second-year quarterback, it speaks to how well he has played the majority of the time. Also, however, it’s worth pointing out that both of Purdy’s interceptions were bad throws, and they both came in the fourth quarter in Vikings territory.

First, with just over five minutes left, Purdy made an errant throw that Vikings defender Camryn Bynum hauled in.

Later, after getting the ball back, the Niners attempted to drive down the field again, and Purdy threw another interception to Bynum that ended the 49ers’ comeback hopes.

The Vikings improve to 3-4 on the season and will head to Green Bay Sunday to face the Packers, while the Niners fall to 5-2 and will host the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday.

Social media had plenty to say about Purdy’s performance.
