The New York Giants had a very clear game plan against the San Francisco 49ers and star quarterback Brock Purdy – blitz him heavily. But unfortunately for the Giants, that plan heavily backfired on them.

As Next Gen State points out in a post on social media, the New York Giants brought an unprecedented amount of pressure on Brock Purdy throughout the entire game, but Purdy made them pay by getting the ball out of his hands faster than we’ve ever seen throughout his entire career, and threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns.

“The Giants blitzed Brock Prudy on 33 of his 39 dropbacks (84.6%), the highest blitz rate in a game in the NGS era.

Likewise, Purdy averaged the fastest time to throw of his career (2.34 seconds).

Purdy vs Blitz: 20/31, 247 yards, 2 TD,” Next Gen Stats said in a post on X, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.

It was a pretty insane performance from Purdy given how much pressure he faced, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.

Purdy is only in his second season playing in the NFL after he was the last overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he’s already looking like a legitimate star in the league.
